Toughened Laminated Glass

Enhance safety and security

Toughened laminated glass consists of sheets of toughened safety glass bonded together with a tough plastic interlayer to enhance safety and security as well as retaining glass fragments in the event of breakage.

APG ToughLam normally has two panes of glass with either a clear PVB or EVA interlayer. We can also supply mutli-plyaminates with three or more glass panes and two or more interlayers which are then able to be used as flooring, fins, beams and other structural applications.

Toughened laminated is available in a wide range of glasses and thicknesses and can be used to satisfy all safety glazing requirements of Approved Document N of the Building Regulations and BS 6262 part 4. Subject to calculations it can be used to form full height barriers, infill panel barriers as well as free standing structural balustrades in compliance with Approved Document K of the Building Regulations and BS 6180.

Common thickness of APG toughLam for partitions, balustrades and canopes are 2x 6,8,10 or 12 mm Panes incorporating either a 0.76mm or 1.5mm PVB or EVA interlayer depending on the specification. This interlayer gives the glass all the advantages of laminated glass at blocking sound and UV light transmission.
